Where and with whom did you see the movie?
I saw the movie at Ward Consolidated Theatres with my good friend and walking companion Lt. Col. Liza Shimmin.
Overall, what did you think?
I thought the film was very provocative in trying to understand how a woman, Margaret Keane, as portrayed by Amy Adams, could give up her identity for the man she loves.
Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?
The courtroom scene was the most dramatic and had the audience cheering!
On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?
★★★ 1/2!
What did you think of the cinematography?
I thought the film captured the San Francisco street scenes beautifully, as well as the outdoor shots of Hawaii that were extremely enticing!
Was the message/theme clear? To me, the message was how the times had changed, where women were more dependent upon men to define themselves. This is so different from the way it is today!
Did it remind you of any other works of film?
It reminded me of the story of Ike and Tina Turner.
Who would you recommend this movie to?
Baby Boomers will enjoy this film, as they will relate to much of the ideology of the times.
Did any of the actors stand out?
Christoph Waltz, who played Walter Keane, did a phenomenal job portraying Margaret’s conniving husband.
Did you identify with any of the characters?
I could identify with Margaret’s best friend, who cared for her friend and could see what Margaret herself did not understand. I think this is the way it is for most people.
Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?
The music added to the nostalgic feeling of the period.
Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD?
Most definitely!
What’s your favorite movie snack?
The buttered popcorn was the BEST!
We also ate hot dogs and had cold drinks.
On a different note, what’s new with you?
I am currently selling custom countertops (quartz and granite).
My joy comes from helping people bring beauty into their homes and to know we have added something of value to their lives.
