BGCH Gets Help With Homework
Ross Stores Inc. has formed a partnership with Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii to strengthen Power Hour, the club’s interactive after-school homework assistance program.
The national chain, which sells off-price apparel and home fashions, intends to fund as well as involve its local employees in the effort, which is considered one of America’s top programs supporting academic success.
Ross has stores in Pearl City, Kapolei and Aiea, and BGCH has a clubhouse in Ewa Beach, where children ages 7-17 can come for activities, sports and nurturing programs like Power Hour, which brings together adult tutors, training and resources.
“We know that regular participation in out-of-school-time educational programs like Power Hour can help to address the high school dropout crisis and bridge the achievement gap for our youths,” said Tim Motts, CEO of BGCH.
