Aulani Helps Raise Funds For A Hospitalized Keiki Play Area
Keiki at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children got a surprise visit from Mickey, Minnie and Goofy Dec. 17, when representatives of Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa also were on hand to further help children at Kapiolani Medical Center.
They presented a check for $250,000 to Kapiolani Health Foundation, where the funds will support the hospital’s Campaign for Hawaii’s Children; they also will go toward providing a play area in the Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatric Intensive Care units and are scheduled to begin construction next month. The play areas are expected to be finished in two years.

Following the presentation, vice president and general manager of Aulani Elliot Mills, along with Disney characters and numerous “voluntEARS” from the resort, toured the hospital, visited with young patients and sang holiday carols.
Kapiolani’s ongoing fundraising campaign is just $1 million short of its $30 million goal. Monies will go toward completing the first phase in rebuilding the hospital’s Honolulu complex.
The neonatal and pediatric critical care units are part of the plans envisioned for phase one of construction.
