Area Students Among Military Nominees

Hawaii’s U.S. senators have announced their nominations to the military service academies, including West Oahu high school seniors who have survived a vigorous selection process.

“The men and women of the U.S. armed forces secure our daily liberties and make our country what it is,” said Sen. Brian Schatz. “This year’s nominees represent Hawaii’s best and brightest students.” Nominations do not guarantee appointments, however.

Sen. Hirono’s West Oahu nominees are Anna Cochrane of Kapolei (Moanalua High), Jennifer Borzilleri of Island Pacific Academy, Devon Miller of Aiea (Grammar School at Leeds) and Erin Scheidt of Waipahu (Kamehameha).

Sen. Schatz’s nominees are Christian Agmata of Waipahu (Punahou), Malia Meditz of Ewa Beach (Kamehameha) and Lucas Tom of Campbell High School.
