A Collaboration Of Brands

If you’re in search of last-minute, one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts, About The Goods LLC is one answer to your urban holiday shopping needs. Business partner, store manager and women’s brand buyer Riana Stellburg opened this one-stop shop for exclusive products in November, and she says the idea to pursue this business venture came about through collaboration with friends.

“Friends who also own their own brands, but didn’t necessarily have a store, had the same goal as us – to have one. Four brands that represent different aspects of retail, The Majorz, Hawaii Sneakerheads, IDK (In Da Kuts) and Murder Mainstream came together, and as a result, About The Goods was born,” Stellburg says. “We have that, ‘I shine, you shine’ mentality. We feel that if we have true intentions with the purpose of our business and our customers know that, then the products and brands will sell themselves. Therefore, if the brands shine, our business shines as well.”

About The Goods is located in Advanced PCS at Pearl Kai Shopping Center and is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. According to Stellburg, About The Goods specializes in men’s and women’s apparel, snapbacks, sneakers and women’s accessories.

“We want to reach a clientele that has an urban background with an interest in hip-hop music or sneaker culture,” she says. “Basically, our business appeals to customers looking for an alternative when it comes to clothing.

“We carry products and brands that aren’t sold anywhere else in Hawaii, the only place you can get it is at our shop. As a consumer, I want to feel confident about buying a certain brand. I want to know that the next 10 girls won’t have the same shirt as I do. I want to feel special owning it,” she explains. “I also want to know that the product will last long and the quality is on point. On top of that, we wanted to create a hub where people can purchase local underground music and give the artists a place to sell their music. All of us at About The Goods are huge cultivators of the underground music scene, and we all play roles as DJs, promoters and artists.”

Stellburg recently graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a degree in photojournalism and multimedia, and hopes that one day About The Goods will have its own storefront and will continue to feature exclusive products to entice its customers.

“I love my job! I love that I work in a place where I can utilize my skills and feel free to experiment,” she says. “I’m a budding entrepreneur, so I’m constantly learning.”
