Decades Of Helping ‘Ohana Grow
CELIA DOMINGUEZ, M.D.
Co-director of Pacific In Vitro
Fertilization Institute
As the first in vitro fertilization clinic in the state, we have helped build or expand families in Hawai‘i for more than 38 years. Our fertility clinic is based in Honolulu and offers state-of-the-art assistance in conceiving a child. We are one of the only clinics open 365 days a year, with access to expert infertility nurses, staff and an embryology team led by the only Ph.D. laboratory director on the island. We are here to serve not only the conventional couple, but also assist those desiring single parenthood or in same-sex relationships. We also offer coordination in services requiring donor eggs or surrogacy.
I describe the care offered at Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute as “boutique.” Our team of highly trained experts ensures everyone’s journey is specifically tailored to the individual, and we pride ourselves in providing personalized and modern fertility care. We run varied protocols to achieve the best outcome when it comes to the number of eggs retrieved and embryo formation. In our embryology laboratory, we carefully monitor and EmbryoScope incubator. Embryos housed in these incubators are constantly monitored for progression of their development, never requiring the removal of embryos from their “in vitro” environment for analysis.
We also offer preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) on embryos to analyze for chromosomal abnormalities, thus helping embryo selection for transfer. Additionally, our laboratory offers preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic disorders (PGT-M), which detects specific genetic conditions (e.g. cystic fibrosis, sickle cell) that run in a given person’s family history.
Oocyte freezing for fertility preservation is another service we provide. This is an excellent option for women interested in delaying motherhood. It allows a woman the possibility to “freeze” her unfertilized eggs (eggs not combined with sperm) for future use, thus preserving her fertility at the age the eggs were removed.
Since opening our doors in 1985, we have assisted in the birth of more than 7,500 babies to clients not only in Hawai‘i, but from all over the world. Our doors are open to all who seek reproductive assistance.
Information can often provide comfort and understanding for what you’re going through. That’s why we often hold free monthly seminars on the in vitro fertilization process and other alternatives for couples with fertility problems. This relaxed, informal presentation is designed to give you a good overview of the options, and a chance to meet one of our doctors and ask questions. If you have any questions or want to sign up for a seminar, please contact us at 808-946-2226 or email info@pacificinvitro.com. All free IVF seminars will be held via Zoom at 11 a.m. After you sign up, you will be contacted the week of your seminar with a Zoom invitation and instructions.
