‘Ōlelo No‘eau Card Sales Benefit Museum
Actions of Aloha, a charitable business founded in March 2020, donated $10,000 to Bishop Museum. The funds were generated through sales of the company‘s cards, that featured 53 ‘ōlelo no‘eau from the noted book by Mary Kawena Pukui. AOA partnered with the museum to create the cards. “Bishop Museum is tremendously appreciative of this opportunity and of our partnership with Actions of Aloha,” states Teora Morris, Bishop Museum press operations manager (right). “‘Ōlelo no‘eau are timeless. They allow us to connect with the way our ancestors thought and viewed the world,” states Kaiani Kīaha, Actions of Aloha ambassador (left). PHOTO COURTESY ACTIONS OF ALOHA
Car Sales Fuel Meal Deliveries For Kūpuna
Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels was one of the beneficiaries of Subaru Hawai‘i’s 10th annual “Share the Love” sales event. For every new car sold during the campaign, customers were able to designate a local charitable cause to receive $250. The program garnered a total of $50,000 for five local charities, with Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels receiving $20,000. “We are so grateful to these organizations and the work that they do to care for our kūpuna, pets and environment. During a year of so much uncertainty, the importance of their operations increased tenfold,” states Peter Dames, executive vice president of Subaru Hawai‘i. “Subaru Hawai‘i and the Share the Love event will help Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels to care for our kūpuna,” states Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels CEO Michelle Cordero-Lee. “We are so fortunate to have been selected for this opportunity and thank Subaru Hawai‘i for helping local nonprofits like us.” Pictured at the presentation are (from left) Tony Chang, general manager at Servco Subaru Honolulu and Servco Subaru Kaimukī; Cordero-Lee; and Rod Saunders, vice president of Subaru Hawai‘i.
