Moanalua Wins Hawaiimoji Contest
Bank of Hawai‘i’s Kalihi market manager Tim Chang presented a $10,000 check to Joel Kawachi, athletic director at Moanalua High School, during the OIA championship football game at Aloha Stadium. Moanalua’s Hawaiimoji logo sticker was shared more than 14 million times during the playooff round of Bank of Hawai‘i Hawaiimoji Blitz Contest. Bank of Hawai‘i’s recent update to its popular Hawaiimoji app included 22 OIA high school logos created to rally support for local schools and their student-athletes.

Washington Middle’s Top Mathletes
Washington Middle School student “mathletes” won the top team prize at the O‘ahu Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition sponsored by Hawaiian Electric Cos. and Hawai‘i Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation. Nearly 250 middle school students from public and private schools across O‘ahu participated in the math problem-solving event held at Kamehameha Schools.
