Rotary Club Ready To Rock Wahiawa
Rotarians and their guests will be rocking the night away June 29 at Dot’s in Wahiawa, and it’s all for a good cause.
The third annual Rotary Rock & Roll Night, set for 6 to 10 p.m., is a benefit for the WahiawaWaialua Rotary Club’s scholarship fund and to support its community service projects. The public is invited, and admission is $25 pre-sale or $35 at the door.
Ticket holders can enjoy heavy pupus, dancing and prize drawings, including the grand prize of an Apple iPad. For reservations and more information, call Ken Uyeno at 599-1811 or JoAnne Nishigaya at 226-0216.
Entertainment for the evening is by LS 34, a band with a full repertoire of music from the ’60s and ’70s. Uyeno doubles as lead singer for the group, which began as “Lovin’ Sounds” 34 years after they all graduated from high school.
The club recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to Mary Grace Paneda and Ana Liza Capulong of Leilehua, Allyson Agustin of Waialua and Landan Yoshida of Maryknoll. It also sponsored $5,000 Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation grants to Khadija Karodia of Waialua High and Maegan Tupinio of Leilehua.
Chartered in 1937, the club meets at noon each Thursday at Dot’s, which is located on Mango Street.
