Rear Adm. Lloyd R. Vasey Turns 100

The Pacific Forum CSIS celebrated the 100th birthday of its founder, Rear Adm. Lloyd “Joe” Vasey, Jan. 31. Vasey is a World War II veteran who created Pacfic Forum CSIS to promote peace and dialogue in Asia and the Pacific. Staff and research fellows surprised him at his home with balloons and lei to express their deepest gratitude for his vision and commitment to make the world a better place.
