Keeping Memories Alive On Film
Nothing can be more devastating than losing a loved one, yet LeeAnn Sagum, owner of Videulogy (Legacy Productions LLC) helps to keep those precious memories alive through special personalized compilation videos complete with interviews, photographs and song, which she calls videulogies.
“My husband, Ray, had lost some close friends and family, and he wanted a way of keeping his loved ones’ memories alive not just in his heart, but through film,” says Sagum, who started her part-time business in 2009. “Our belief is, just as we get life insurance to benefit a handful of people, the beneficiaries of a videulogy are much larger. One of the main services that we offer is for people to do their own videulogy – say what you want to say to the people you want to say it to. You decide which pictures will be placed in your videulogy, you decide who will be interviewed, if any, after your death.”
Videulogies are highly requested by families of the deceased, and according to Sagum, the final product is a “celebration of life” that can be shown for years to come, from generation to generation. Death is a difficult topic to discuss, yet it is something that we all will experience. Sagum believes a videulogy will drastically change the way in which we grieve and have closure after the death of a loved one.
“Our business philosophy is that everyone has a story,” she says. “Regardless of whether you’re a blue-collar worker or the president of a Fortune 500 company, everyone is loved by someone, and everyone has something that is unique to only them. Our videulogies are 100 percent positive,” Sagum states. “We find the good in everyone and we build the story based on the fabric of each unique individual.”
Sagum will speak with potential clients at their convenience, and will later meet with clients to finalize details and determine whether the company’s services are needed or not.
“We have been doing videulogies as a side business for years now. My goal is to turn Videulogy into a full-time operation and promote our services to mortuaries, care homes, assisted-living facilities, hospice and more.
“Eventually, I want Videulogy to be a household name like Q-tips and Kleenex.”
