Free Training In Bystander CPR

Do you know what to do if someone near you shows signs of heart trouble?

To be sure you do, Windward Neighborhood Security Watch will sponsor a free Bystander CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) training course from 9 to 11:30 a.m. May 12 at Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden.

After group members sign up for the 50 available slots, the public may apply between May 7 and 11 (until 3 p.m.) for the remaining spaces.

Participants will train with mannequins under guidance provided by firefighters and the AED Institute staff.

“At 16, I was able to save the life of my 12-year-old neighbor because I had learned CPR as a Girl Scout,” said Windward NSW president Carlene MacPherson. “I remember looking up and seeing all of the adults freeze, not knowing what to do. This class fits perfectly with the goal of NSW: Neighbors helping Neighbors.”
