Choral Society Sings Friday
Windward Choral Society is in need of music. Luckily, the group is putting on its seventh annual Spring Concert, “I Am in Need of Music,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 5 at St. John Vianney Parish.
Led by founder and artistic director Susan McCreary Duprey, and accompanists Grant Mack and Briggs Christie, more than 100 vocalists will perform songs from the African-American, Hawaiian, American and British Isles repertoires. Ka‘anohiwaianuenue Hula Studio also will make a special guest appearance.
An encore performance will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. June 7 also at the church, located at 920 Keolu Drive. Admission is free, but freewill donations will be accepted to cover performance costs.
WCS was founded in 2008, and has entertained the community with free multicultural choral music at venues including Pohai Nani and the Fourth of July concert in Kailua.
