Waipahu Sponsors Auto Program

Waipahu High has partnered with Honolulu Community College, First Hawaiian Bank and Cutter Automotive Group to give high school students interested in the automotive technology industry a chance to get real-world experience and garner college credits.

Hawaii High School Auto Academy, which begins June 15, consists of an unpaid internship at a Cutter dealership in the mornings, and Honolulu CC classes in the afternoons.

Upon completion of the six-week program, students will have earned 120 hours (four credits) toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in automotive technology.

According to Honolulu CC, the program began in response to the shortage of trained workers in the automotive technology industry.
