Learn To Grow Herbs At Home
Malama Learning Center wants to show the community that starting a garden and growing food is for everyone.
In celebration of Earth Day (today, April 22), the center hosts a planter-box garden workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Kapolei High School Portable 1.
This workshop takes participants through the process of starting an herb garden — without the need for a big backyard space.
In fact, herb gardens can do well on a lanai, front stoop or in a kitchen window.
The first part of the workshop involves learning the basics about container planting. Participants will then decorate their planters and choose herbs to grow.
Planters cost $2-$10, or attendees can bring one from home.
Fee is $15 per person or $40 for families of up to three people. Registration is required online at malamalearningcenter.org or to sayo@malamalearningcenter.org.
