Inspiring Keiki To Be Stewards Of The Earth
Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Jack and Kim Johnson, supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii.
Our mission is to provide students with exciting and interactive encounters that will enhance their appreciation for and understanding of their environment so that they will be lifelong stewards of the earth.
We support hands-on learning activities that engage their senses and make lasting impressions on children’s minds. We believe our keiki are the seeds of change for preserving and protecting our beautiful islands.
Since 2003, Kokua Hawaii Foundation has reached hundreds of thousands of students and community members through our varied programs.
‘AINA In Schools is a farm-to-school initiative connecting children to their local land, water and food to grow a healthier Hawaii. Its 3R’s School Recycling empowers students to engage and educate their school community about the 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle).
Kokua Hawaii Foundation Field Trip Grants help to bring students to outdoor sites, where they can experience hands-on learning about Hawaii’s environment, and Kokua Hawaii Foundation mini-grants assist Hawaii teachers and schools in advancing their environmental education goals, encouraging students to pursue stewardship endeavors.
Plastic Free Hawaii provides resources and trainings to educate schools, business partners and community members about the environmental and health benefits of going plastic free to minimize single-use plastics in our islands.
Kokua Hawaii Foundation relies heavily on support from volunteers, who help build gardens, teach lessons and participate in beach cleanups.
