UHWO Men Don High Heels To End Violence
The men of University of Hawaii-West Oahu will march around campus from 10:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. April 15 as part of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The march starts in UHWO’s courtyard.
This international event advocates against rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Men will sport high heels or decorated slippers, which literally puts them in someone else’s shoes for the day and demonstrates “support and solidarity behind the goal of ending sexualized violence against women.”
Women’s shoes will be available for participants on walk day.
UHWO chancellor Rockne Freitas will participate in the walk after opening the event, which is free and open to the community, including businesses and organizations.
