John Pritchett nailed it again with his cartoon showing a frumpy donkey Legislature telling Gov. David Ige, “The honeymoon is over!”

Mufi’s calling

I was never much of a fan of Mufi Hannemann as a politician, but I have to say, he does write a pretty interesting MidWeek column. He appears to have found his calling.

Faith alternatives

Reading Ms. Nicholson’s letter condemning Jay Sakashita’s Misfit Spirit column was like reading the Mayflower pilgrims’ condemnation of Lydia Hatch for allowing her body to be raped, for which she was sentenced to a public whipping! She rued the day she was born into a Christian community.

In fact, were Ms. Nicholson’s “heavenly” father an earthly father, he would be most likely tossed into jail with the key thrown away for child abuse, inciting murder, warfare, mayhem, bigotry, torture, sacrifices and many other crimes against humanity.

As one Biblical example, a wife and mother turns around for one last look at her home before it is destroyed, and for that she is turned into a pillar of salt. Really? Everyone needs a god with a better sense of justice than that, and Misfit Spirit allows readers to discover viable alternatives.

The recent 2015 Honolulu Festival provided clear evidence that millions of people around the world are happy a Hawaiian god created hula, and delighted that a Hawaiian king had the strength and courage to overrule Christian edicts to banish hula from the face of the world.

Ms. Nicholson has every right to live in her own cocoon, but no right at all to prohibit anyone from soaring away!

So I say Vive la Différence! — and keep up the good work, MidWeek and Professor Sakashita!
