A Jazzy Art Reception For Gallery ‘Iolani Show

A photo exhibit by Mark Hamasaki opens Friday with a touch of jazz during a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gallery ‘Iolani.

Hamasaki’s show, Conjoined, is the third in the WCC gallery’s Photo Trilogy by three master artists. A longtime art professor at Windward Community College, Hamasaki has taught the traditional processes of wetlab photography for decades, and his documenting of the H-3 freeway construction has been widely displayed.

This show, however, is an intimate study honoring his parents, and is presented as a personal essay on life. The photos will remain on view through May 12. Earl Seki will play jazz during the reception, which is free and open to the public.
