Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Susan Au Doyle has been elected to the board of directors of Family Promise of Hawaii. She previously served as president and chief professional officer of Aloha United Way, the largest health and human services fundraiser in Hawaii. Family Promise is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that mobilizes community resources and local congregations to provide compassionate care through shelter, meals and case management to families without housing.

Oskar Garcia has been named news editor for The Associated Press’s Hawaii and Pacific Rim region. A versatile reporter for The Associated Press, Garcia has become a leader in the company’s use of social media as a reporting tool. Garcia has spent nearly six years with AP, the past four in Las Vegas covering various subjects including the casino industry, tourism, the World Series of Poker and more.

Stacy Evensen has recently joined Hale Kipa as director of educational and vocational services. Evensen has more than 25 years of executive management experience in the health care sector, and will oversee the agency’s newest initiative to address community health and well-being through education and vocational training. Evensen previously served as past chairwoman and director of Hale Kipa’s board, of which she has been a member for more than 12 years. She joins Hale Kipa after 25 years at HMSA.

Brenda Torres has joined Hoku Solar as operations administrator. Her duties will include coordinating and tracking commercial solar installations and operations, providing post-sales customer service and serving as a customer ombudsman. Torres brings more than five years of sales operations and logistics experience to Hoku. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
