Take Expired Drugs To Local Kaiser Clinics
Kaiser Permanente is partnering with the State Attorney General’s office for Drug Take-Back Days to allow the public to properly dispose of unneeded or expired medications.
The Kaiser Waipio Clinic will join this effort from 1 to 4 p.m. April 16 at 94-1480 Moaniani St. Also participating in West Oahu is the Kapolei Clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. April 19 at 599 Farrington Hwy.
The program is designed partly to prevent drug abuse. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has found that unused medication in the household may contribute to growing rates of prescription drug abuse, particularly among teenagers.
Also, improper disposal (flushing down toilets or tossing in the trash) can contaminate surface water, ground water and biosolids.
