All-Star Teams Honor Central Students

Several Mililani Trojan baseball players were named OIA all stars, as selected by league coaches.

Justice Nakagawa, a junior shortstop, earned a spot on the OIA Red West’s First Team by batting .346 this spring. The Trojans also had a trio of Second Team All-Stars in catcher Sean Sonognini, pitcher Cole Nakachi and outfielder Kaimana Souza-Paaluhi.

Trevor Inouye and Jarrin Morikawa earned Honorable Mention. The Trojans finished 12-7, including a third-place finish at the OIA’s post-season tournament. They defeated Hilo, Mid-Pacific and Kailua at states to make the title game, where they were beaten by Saint Louis.

* Leilehua outfielder Ricky Van Gelder made the Red West’s First Team. The Mules finished 7-8 this season. Van Gelder had a big season in the field and at the plate, batting .394 in 15 games.

His teammates Jarred Chai, Wayne Abear Jr., Mikah Takashige, Jonah Paas, Trey Yukumoto and Nainoa Paragoso earned Honorable Mention.

* In Division II, Waialua’s Kebi Dellatan was named to the First Team in the OIA White Conference. Dellatan was a leader for a Bulldog team that went 9-5 overall. Waialua finished a win away from making the DII state tournament, finishing third in the OIA post-season tourney. Earning Honorable Mention were Caelan Alejandro, Joshua Munoz, Jarrett Felix, Mila Lele, Virgilio Bareng, Ryan Ramos and Branigan Lee.

OIA Water Polo All-Stars Revealed

Mililani was well-represented on OIA Water Polo All-Star Teams. Chanel Long and Dru Daley were named to the First Team for helping lead Mililani to a third-place finish at the state girls water polo championships last month.

Mililani’s Chloe Long and Sarah Fisk were both picked as Second Team All-Stars, while teammates Shelby Parker, Kaylie Miyashita and Maritza Segovia earned Honorable Mention.

Lilia DeWilde earned Honorable Mention from Waialua.

Earning Honorable Mention from Leilehua were Talea Alailima, Dana Okuma and Chyel Palmer.
