Ho‘omaluhia: Art Inside And Outside

Art can be found amid the flowers at Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden from now until June 30, with “Collages & a bit of Clay at Ho’omaluhia.”

The exhibit, located at the park visitor center’s Exhibition/Lecture Room, runs daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with no admission charge.

All the work on display was created through classes held at the botanical garden. Susan Rogers-Aregger teaches a regular paper dyeing and collage course, which involves hand-dyeing tissue paper and layering it onto Plexiglas for a stained glass effect. She and four of her students — Joy Ritchey, Dorothy Brennan, Rebekah Luke and Hiroko Shoultz — will showcase their work in the unique medium. Barbara Guidage, who teaches pottery courses, is showing her collage lamp shades as well as fine clay creations.

The public can meet the artists, watch the creative process and sign up for future classes from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 10 and 24. The next class is scheduled for June 22, with a $55 fee that includes supplies.
