WCC Has Summer Surf Films

Windward Community College will present its first-ever Summer Surf Celebration Film Fest from 5 to 9 p.m. May 29 at Paliku Theatre.

The free event will include two films: True to This (a 30-minute film celebrating boarding on land and sea by Volcom) and A Deeper Shade of Blue (a 90-minute film by Jack McCoy about the rise of modern surf culture). Also on the program is a reception with pupu from Heeia Pier General Store & Deli and entertainment from Gabe Jameson. Ian Akahi Masterson will provide opening remarks.

There also will be a blessing and introduction to WCC’s Hawaii Ocean Education Academy, which seeks to train and educate students and the visitor industry about safe practices in ocean recreation activities.
