Golf Tourney To Benefit North Shore Folks
A local foundation that shared $50,000 with the community last year wants to do it again – with your help.
Turtle Bay Foundation’s second annual benefit golf tournament is set for May 16 on the resort’s Palmer course. The event is a three-person scramble with registration at 10 a.m., lunch at 11 and tee off at 12:30 p.m. Fee per team is $500, with higher charges for sponsor levels. The tournament also features an awards and pupu party at 5:30 p.m. at Surfer, The Bar. For details, email info@turtlebayfoundation.c om, visit turtlebayfoundation.com or call 293-6000.
Since it was officially established in 2012, the foundation has awarded grants to 36 area nonprofits (from Waialua to Kaaawa) ranging from classroom supplies for local schools to sports teams, preschools, civic clubs and robotics programs.
Support comes from the resort itself as well as fundraisers like the May 16 golf tourney.
Last year the foundation awarded college scholarships to Adora Anae, Berard Feuao, Brandee Heder, Emalia Marquardsen, Jennifer Nacapuy, Jeheryl Okala Makaiau, Stream Goo and Tonga Milavea – all students from the North Shore and Koolauloa.
