Onions Star In A Four-day Fest In Kapolei
Ewa sweet onions are in season, and to celebrate, Aloun Farms will host the second annual Sweet Onion Festival from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m April 19-20 and 26-27.
The festival celebrates agricultural diversity in Hawaii, while also highlighting high school culinary programs that connect local youths to the food industry. It kicks off with Hawaii’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt
April 19 and 20. The Ewa Sweet Onion Concert is April 26.
Each day of the festival features hayrides, which will take visitors on a tour of 1,000 acres of corn, melons, beans, sunflowers, eggplant and zucchini – and, of course, onions. Live entertainment, crafts, fresh local produce, rides and more also will be part of the fun.
Hawaii Foodbank will accept canned food donations on both weekends. Those who donate receive a free onion.
Admission is $3; children under 2 get in free. April 27 is Military Appreciation Day; those with a military ID get in free.
