Play Kickball To Help Abused Keiki

Kickballs aren’t the only thing that P.A.R.E.N.T.S. Inc. hopes to send flying. The organization’s crusade against child abuse and neglect continues with the third annual Kickball Tournament from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5 on Kaneohe District Park’s Phase II fields.

The double-elimination tournament is open to anyone over age 8 willing to put together a team of eight to 15. Entry fee per team is $250 (if registered by March 14), $300 (March 14-21) or $500 (March 22-29). Registration closes after March 29. Corporate sponsorships starting at $1,000 also are available.

Also planned is a free keiki zone loaded with activities, games and prizes. Face painting, balloon making and relay races are on the agenda, along with music and door prizes.

The event is held in April in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Proceeds from the tourney benefit the Kaneohe-based nonprofit’s counseling, education and support services in Hawaii. P.A.R.E.N.T.S. stands for Providing Awareness Referrals Education Nurturing Therapy Support.
