‘Show Boat’ Tryouts This Weekend

Diamond Head Theatre has set tryouts for Show Boat at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in its rehearsal hall at 520 Makapuu Ave.

The classic Broadway musical was first staged in 1927, and many revivals have followed. Show Boat tells of a company of actors on board Cotton Blossom floating theater and their journey from Mississippi to Chicago over several decades. Unforgettable songs include Make Believe, Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man and Ol’ Man River.

Auditioners should expect to sing with Broadway-style or sheet music in their own key, as well as dance and read from the script.
