Ross Helping With Homework
Ross Stores Inc. is partnering with Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii to strengthen Power Hour, the club’s interactive after-school homework help program.
The national chain, which sells off-price apparel and home fashions, intends to involve its local employees, as well as fund the effort, which is considered one of America’s top programs of its kind supporting academic success.
Ross operates a store in Hawaii Kai Towne Center, and BGCH has a clubhouse in nearby McCully, where children ages 7 to 17 can come for activities, sports and nurturing programs like Power Hour, which brings together adult tutors, training and resources.
“We know that regular participation in out-of-school-time educational programs like Power Hour can help to address the high school dropout crisis and bridge the achievement gap for our youths,” said Tim Motts, CEO of BGCH.
