Deadline Dec. 20 For Firecracker Permits

This Friday, Dec. 20, is the final day to obtain firecracker permits for New Year’s Eve.

In East Oahu, the city permits can be obtained from the satellite city hall at Hawaii Kai Corporate Plaza, Suite 101.

Each $25 permit allows the purchase of not more than 5,000 firecrackers from a licensed retailer, and they must be purchased no more than five days prior to use. Hours for setting them off are between 9 p.m. Dec. 31 and 1 a.m. Jan. 1. And another thing, celebrants, all other fireworks are illegal, including fountains and sparklers.

The satellite office is open weekdays only, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
