Haiyan Donation Center Opens In Waipahu
California-based beverage importer G.K. Skaggs has been moved to organize and open donation centers in Hawaii for Typhoon Haiyan victims.
Partnering with San Miguel Brewery, Young’s Market Co. of Hawaii and the Filipino Consul General of Hawaii, donation centers have been up and running since Dec. 2, including Young’s Market Co. at 94-501 Kau St. in Waipahu. Items may be dropped off there from 10 a.m to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays at least through Dec. 14.
“The people of Hawaii have been tremendous in wanting to help the people in the Philippines,” said Gregory Skaggs, G.K. Skaggs president. “Through their generosity, we can help deliver the emergency aid needed by so many people in the Philippines right now.”
The partners ask that items be in a sealed box, and labeled with its contents. Once collected, they will be shipped to San Miguel Brewery in the Philippines. The brewery’s foundation in turn will repack and distribute the supplies to top-priority areas, such as Central Visayas, Samar and Leyte. Email Kyron Nuckols at knuckols@gkskaggs.com.
