Aiea High Celebrates Ballet, Modern Dance
In an effort to make dance classes affordable for its students, Aiea High School created its own dance program a few years ago, offering instruction in ballet and modern dance. Now, the school even has its own dance company, the Aiea Repertory Dance Company, a selective group comprised of the school’s best dancers.
The company presents Ballet and Modern Dance Celebration 2013, with performances at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 and 21, and at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the school’s HI Dance Studio. Proceeds benefit the dance program.
“Most of our students cannot afford to take ballet classes outside, but at Aiea High School, it is free,” said dance program and Aiea Repertory Dance Company director Desiree Cremer.
Tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for students and children. Seating is limited.
