Punana Leo Family Day Has It All Saturday
‘Tis the season for craft fairs – but the one sponsored by Hui Makua (the parents of) Punana Leo Ko’olau Poko Saturday promises something a little different from the rest.
Families are invited to attend the Aloha Kalikimaka Craft Fair & Family Fun Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Papahana Kuaola, located at the mauka end of Haiku Road, and take home a native tree or shrub that outlasts the holiday season. The intention is to nurture one memento that grows alongside your keiki.
Also planned in partnership with Papahana Kuaola are delicious food, an awa bar, local crafters and artists, musicians, lomilomi, natural gift-wrapping demonstrations, a white elephant sale, a raffle and booths hosted by cultural nonprofits. There also will be free workshops, stream-life education, plant identification, games and more.
The Punana Leo keiki, whose preschool is housed at Puohala Elementary School, will perform, along with Kupa’aina and other entertainers, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will make a special appearance at 11 a.m. Parking should be plentiful.
