Day On Bay Comes To Heeia Park
Kama’aina Kids’ A Day on the Bay, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Heeia State Park, invites families to enjoy a day of fun near the water while supporting the He’eia Learning Center, which is run by the nonprofit child care center on the landmark peninsula.
The event is free and will take advantage of the 18-acre park’s location with kayak races, sailboating, canoeing, a “Stand Up for Heeia” paddle board race, eco tours and other water activities, as well as local food vendors and live entertainment on two stages.
Planned are a rockclimbing wall and high ropes course, Xtreme rides, arts and crafts, children’s games, a trackless train, jumper, and performances by Mailani, Kamaka Fernandez, Kupono, one cool love, Ashley Simpson, Po’ohala, Chinky Mahoe, Hui Kupono, Keiki Palaka Band and Ohana Palaka Band.
“We’re delighted to bring this signature event to the Windward side that focuses on family activities for all,” said Ray Sanborn, head of Kama’aina Kids.
Parking is $5 at the park, but free at Heeia Elementary School where a shuttle bus will operate to the park, located at 46465 Kamehameha Hwy.
