Volunteers Work To Beautify Ilima

Dozens of Central Pacific Bank employees donned garden gloves Oct. 26 to conduct a beautification project at Ilima Intermediate School in Ewa Beach, installing a new grass turf on campus.

“We are very excited to have a presence in the Ewa community and to be able to volunteer at local schools in the area,” stated community banking manager David Hudson. “Quality education is a top priority for our employees and customers, so we’re honored to be able to help.”

CPB staffers also worked alongside volunteers from the school’s student government and board members from school improvement initiative Hawaii 3Rs (Repair, Remodel and Restore), which spearheaded the project. Created by U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye, the group partners with businesses and communities to conduct maintenance and repairs at public schools.

“We’re very grateful to have volunteers from CPB involved in this beautification project,” stated Ilima principal Jon Henry Lee. “This side of the island is notoriously dry and hot, and this weekend’s work will help to ensure we have an aesthetically appealing campus that our kids and community can be proud of.”
