Volunteer Training For Hanauma Ends Soon
Ocean lovers, take note: Hanauma Bay seeks volunteers to be interpretive guides to park visitors, and its education program is training prospective candidates on Saturday mornings through mid-November at the nature preserve.
The training covers the history, geology, reef ecology and cultural significance of the bay and the city park programs there. Candidates also will be able to explore the preserve through a hike, scavenger hunt and guided snorkeling. Once trained, volunteers are expected to work four hours per week for six months, with shifts running from 8 a.m. to noon and noon to 4 p.m. daily except Tuesdays.
To inquire about training, call Morgan Mamizuka at 394-1374 or email hbvp@hawaii.edu. For more information, visit hanaumabayeducation.org.
