Tour Highlights Kahuku Shrimp
Dining on shrimp is a North Shore tradition. Failure to stop at one of the numerous trucks and shacks peddling the tender creatures nearly signifies a wasted effort.
Which one is best is a matter of opinion and opportunity, with most picking one location and sticking with it. No longer.
Discover North Shore, a two-day celebration of art, food, fashion and music Nov. 17-18 at Turtle Bay, will host a shrimp tasting at three of the area’s most popular shrimp destinations.
Discover North Shore is part of a larger campaign of events known as “Discover Our Islands,” which was launched to recognize Hawaii’s unique culture.
Neighborhoods across the island – including Kakaako, Kualoa Ranch and Waikiki – are holding similar events throughout the year, recognizing the unique characteristics and features of each area.
The tour leaves Turtle Bay Nov. 17 in a luxe limobus shuttle with stops at Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck, Romy’s Kahuku Prawns & Shrimp, and Fumi’s Kahuku Shrimp.
Participants will sample the fare from each stop and be given an exclusive tour of the trucks, including a look through Romy’s farm shrimp tank and a specialized guided farm tour of Kahuku Farms.
Each tour is two hours in length and begins at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Parking is free at the resort’s self-parking lot.
Tickets are $45 and available at amtickets.com.
