Tokai International College Breaks Ground Near UH West Oahu
Two-year liberal arts college Hawaii Tokai International College broke ground Oct. 4 for its new campus in Kapolei.
HTIC is part of the Tokai University Educational System, a network of education and research institutions in Japan, Denmark, Korea and Thailand. The Hawaii campus was established in 1992 as an international gateway for students to gain varied international perspectives.
HTIC is coming to Kapolei from its current location on Kapiolani Boulevard. The new campus, which is slated to open in April 2015, will be located next to University of Hawaii -West Oahu, and the two schools will develop a partnership.
“We hope that our facilities and programs located next to the UH West Oahu campus will serve the community by fostering global citizens who will respect differences and contribute to world peace,” said Tokai University Educational System vice president Naoto Yoshikawa. “This day would not have been possible without the overwhelming support of the community of Hawaii.”
