Trial of the Queen – Living History Presentation
King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center, Aliiolani Hale, Oct. 24-27, 7 p.m. Thurs.-Sat., 2 p.m. Sun., free admission. A living history performance of the 1895 trial of Queen Liliuokalani for misprision of treason. The session is preceded by a chant focusing on the significance of the trial for Hawaiians, and is followed by a discussion of the current implications. All participants receive a viewer’s guide that provides a historical timeline, essays by Hawaii history and legal scholars, primary sources in Hawaiian with translations and archival photographs. Foster Care Training
Hawaiian Humane Society, 6-7 p.m., contact for cost. The Hawaiian Humane Society’s foster care program helps to save thousands of treatable, orphaned animals.
