CPAC Staging ‘Bad Seed’ Drama

Castle Performing Arts Center has hatched a “bad seed” for its fall drama this month, and the play should spark questions and doubts in the audience.

Written by Maxwell Anderson from the novel by William March, Bad Seed is the stuff of a classic 1950s-era horror-thriller, with Heeia Elementary student Saoirse Ryhn in the lead role of 9-year-old Rhoda Penmark. She lives in the suburbs with her mother (Castle High’s Jordan Moore), who suspects that something is not quite right with perfect little Rhoda. Is evil born or created? Nature or nurture? Hmm.

With such psychological themes in the dark drama, director Karen Meyer said it’s not recommended for small children. But everyone else is welcome, and tickets are on sale now with no fee at showtix4u.com. Price is $10 for adults and $6 for students, seniors and military. Group rates also are available.
