A “Free Saguaro” benefit concert begins at 6 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Red Hill to raise money for the Free Inside Ministry’s annual trip to Arizona.

Led by Kapolei couple Bulla and Lynette Eastman, the traveling prison ministry visits every prison in the state, and also makes a yearly trip to Saguaro Correctional Center in Arizona. The ministry formed a partnership with the correctional center because of its high number of Hawaii inmates – approaching 1,600 Islanders.

“The ministry volunteers are compelled to encourage and share the love of God and to let the incarcerated know that they have hope and a future,” explained Lynette Eastman. “And because the inmates are thousands of miles away from their home and families, we share that they are neither forsaken or forgotten!”

Tickets cost $20 for the concert, which features Kapena and trumpeter Jesse McGuire.

“We humbly ask for the support of Hawaii and the many families of the incarcerated to help our team get to Saguaro,” added Bulla Eastman.
