Aquatic Talks At Hanuma Bay

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve’s free public lectures this month focus on “interesting aquatic habitats.”

The programs begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays in the park’s Cynthia M. Bond Memorial Theater:

Oct. 3- “Anchialine Ponds” with Lorena Wada of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Oct. 10 – “Revitalizing Loko I’a (Fishponds) Throughout Hawaii” with Brenda Asuncion of Kua’aina Ulu ‘Auamo

Oct. 17 – “Ecology of Hawaii Seagrass Beds” with HPU biology professor Catherine Unaba

Oct. 24 – “Coral Reef Landscapes” with Andre Seale of the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology

Oct. 31 – “When Highways and Wildlife Collide: Wedge-tailed Shearwater Mortality along Southeastern Oahu” with HPU oceanography professor David Hyren-bach.
