Library To Host ‘Lei Of Love’ On Lili‘uokalani
Kapolei Library will share the legacy of Queen Lili’uokalani at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 12 with the special program, “He Lei, He Aloha, or This is a Lei of Love.”
The free event will be led by artist, educator and filmmaker Meleanna Aluli Meyer, who is a descendent of Emma Nawahi, Queen Lili’uokalani’s confidante.
It also will include community readings from the queen’s autobiography Hawaii’s Story by Hawaii’s Queen, a vignette inspired by the queen and a sing-along of her music.
The event is suitable for ages 12 and up. Those requiring sign language or other special accommodations should contact the library three weeks in advance.
