Wahiawa ‘Mermaid’ Tryouts Set Sept. 6-7

Diamond in the Rough Productions will audition actors next week for its fall musical, The Little Mermaid.

Tryouts will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Applause! Performance Academy, 614 Kilani Ave. in Wahiawa. Director Kristi Kashimoto-Row-bottom and musical director Kenji Higashihama are looking for a large cast of men, women and children (age 5 and up) who can dance, act and sing.

Auditioners should be prepared to sing 16 to 24 bars of a Broadway or Disney song and should provide their own sheet music for the accompanist. A current photo and performance resume are requested, if available.

Roles in the popular Disney show include Ariel, Prince Eric, Sebastian, Ursula, Flounder, Scuttle, and Flotsam and Jetsam. There also are a dozen featured roles and an ensemble that sings, dances and acts.

Rehearsals will be held Friday through Sunday nights with the shows themselves booked for Paliku Theatre stage at Windward Community College in Kaneohe. Final curtain is Dec. 15.
