Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii – 8/7/13

Glenn Wakai has been appointed Palau’s honorary consul to Hawaii by Palau president Tommy Remengesau Jr. Wakai will be working with the Republic of Palau to seek ways to strengthen its emergency relief capacity and bolster the nation’s relationship with the U.S. Wakai is serving his second term as a state senator, following eight years in the State House of Representatives. He is the current chair of the Senate’s Committee on Technology and the Arts.

Timothy Mason has been appointed to the board of directors at Hawaii Foodbank. Mason currently is the senior pastor at Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church. Pastor Mason previously served as senior pastor at Meito Christ International and Kakegawa Kikugawa Lutheran churches in Japan.

Fay Van Fleet has been named Hospice Hawaii’s director of clinical operations. She now is responsible for the coordination and delivery of patient services and overall clinical leadership. Van Fleet has more than 15 years of healthcare leadership experience. Most recently, she was the director of patient care South Region at the Hospice of Palm Beach County.

Joel Kumabe has been promoted to senior vice president and chief information officer with Hawaii State Federal Credit Union. He now is responsible for directing and controlling the credit union’s technology and electronic services, future technological innovations and implementing Hawaii State FCU’s informational technology strategic plan. Kumabe brings more than 30 years of technology industry experience and more than 15 years of financial industry experience to Hawaii State FCU.

Catherine Fujisaki has been appointed vice president and personal trust department manager with Central Pacific Bank. In her new position, Fujisaki is responsible for the leadership of the personal trust department, which includes oversight of its accounts and business development. She has more than 20 years of combined experience in the areas of finance and investment management, corporate accounting, and trusts and estate planning law.

Aaron Kanemaru has been promoted to vice president and banking center manager at Waikiki Banking Center (Bank of Hawaii). He now is responsible to managing and partnering with a team of bankers to serve the personal, business and commercial banking needs of Waikiki and the surrounding areas. Kanemaru joined the bank in 2002 as a teller in the Waikiki Branch.
