What is your official title/occupation? Sales and marketing consultant for All In Circles, representing Oahu Ghost Tours.
Where and with whom did you see the movie? At Ward Consolidated Theatre with my good business friend, Joy Yamazaki Amos.
Overall what did you think? I am not usually interested in horror movies, as I think they’re so unrealistic and too fake, but understanding that this movie was based on a true story, I expected it to be pretty good. It was not just good, it was great! The fact that the night I saw the movie was a full moon night added to the ambiance too. It’s a perfect chilling movie in the hot summer nights! This movie has made me want to watch more of these “based on a true story” paranormal movies.
Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes? When the girls started to experience paranormal activities and started to see ghosts, ghosts started to appear on the screen. Also, when the mother gets possessed and gets her life sucked out by the demon.
On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film? ★★★★
What did you think of the cinematography? I think it was great that even though you knew to expect a ghost, they somehow made it appear in an unexpected way. The technique they used to show bits and pieces of something in the background also was great.
Was the message/theme clear? Yes, love will always prevail! There’s a reason why the house was empty for so long – make sure you do a background check before you purchase a house.
Did it remind you of any other works of film? It gave me the sensation of watching The Exorcist for the first time back when I was little.
Who would you recommend this movie to? Someone who may be skeptical about paranormal activities and does not believe in ghosts.
Did any of the actors stand out? Ed and Lorraine Warren played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga were perfect for the roles, including their looks for the era. Lili Taylor also played the perfect role in the movie. I was a little disappointed with the performance of Ron Livingston. He did not look scared enough in his facial and verbal expression during the exorcism. Of all the actors, I have to give credit to Joey King, who acted as one of the daughters. Her performances of being terrified with fear was very convincing!
Did you identify with any of the characters? No! Thank goodness!
Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film? Yes, most definitely! Also watching it in the theater enhances the soundtrack.
Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD? Yes. I want to watch it again so that I can see everything without covering my eyes!
What’s your favorite movie snack? Nestle Buncha Crunch.
On a different note, what’s new with you? Being bilingual (English and Japanese) is a huge plus for my occupation as a sales and marketing consultant. My current focus is social media for all my clients and networking with business partners and friends, which I believe creates many opportunities. My belief in this reflects my company name, All In Circles. Everyone has different multiple circles of friends, and when those circles intertwine, it brings new opportunities.
I have been representing several companies in the Hawaii travel industry. Oahu Ghost Tours is one of them. In addition, I represent IHOP restaurants, Waikiki Beach Services and the newest show in Waikiki, Aloha Live Show at Queen Kapiolani Hotel. I look forward to future opportunities to help Hawaii’s hospitality industry grow and to share with the world Hawaii cultural activities, attractions, entertainment and great food from the islands!
