Polly Kauahi has been named vice president and COO of Hawaii Foodbank. She now is responsible for daily management of the Foodbank with the assistance of three directors: agency affiliations, product donations and warehouse operations. She will continue overseeing the development department in its food and fundraising efforts.
Kim Asuncion has been named area reservations manager of Aston Hotels & Resorts. In her new position, Asuncion oversees reservations for Aston’s Waikiki condominium resort properties, including Aston Waikiki Sunset, Aston at the Waikiki Banyan, Aston Pacific Monarch and Aston Waikiki Beach Tower. She has nearly two decades of hospitality experience, most recently serving as the reservations manager for Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel.
William Nhieu has been appointed deputy director of communications for Hawaii State House of Representatives. Nhieu has a range of administrative, legislative, analytical and public relations experience gained from positions across public and government affairs. In addition to working in local government, he has broad experience in the effective use and implementation of social and emerging media communications.
Richard Zwern has been elected to Straub Foundation’s board of directors. The foundation supports the charitable mission of its nonprofit hospital affiliate, Straub Clinic & Hospital, by raising funds to provide the people of Hawaii with specialty medical care, purchase life-saving equipment, support community outreach and education, and further local research. Zwern is worldwide director of executive development at WPP Group, one of the world’s leading advertising and marketing services groups.
Eric Hannum, president of InVision Imaging, has been elected JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Hawaii’s new president of its board of directors. Hannum replaces Michael Tam of Martin and MacArthur, who will serve on the board as immediate past president.
Alex Tiller, Sunetric CEO, has been elected to Electric Drive Transportation Association’s board of directors. He will join the Washington, D.C.-based association’s members, ranging from equipment manufacturers to technology developers, in the promotion of electric transportation technologies as a key way to reduce America’s dependence on oil and preserve the environment.
Brandon Barbour has been appointed director of government and community affairs for Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association. In his new role, Barbour will liaise with government and elected officials on behalf of HLTA members, as well as oversee the association’s many community and charitable programs, including the annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk. He previously worked for U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz as the community affairs representative.
Dionicia Lagapa has been named senior director of continuing care for Kaiser Permanente. She will lead the division and be responsible for day-to-day patient care services statewide. Lagapa began her nursing career with Kaiser in 1988 while attending college.
