Waiahole Celebrates 130 Years
One of the smallest schools in the state, Waiahole Elementary, also is one of the oldest as it will celebrate its 130th year this fall.
Everyone is invited to attend the anniversary party and participate in some way – from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 at the school. Festivities will encompass a luau, history exhibits, alumni reunion, commemorative T-shirts, live entertainment, keiki activities, country store and plant sale, with all proceeds to benefit current students (about 70 children).
Donations of all kinds are welcome for the country store and plant sale, such as art work, baked goods, crafts, produce, gift baskets and certificates, potted plants, preserves, etc. Volunteer help and money (as in checks payable to Waiahole School) will not be turned down.
