Daniel Akaka To Speak On ‘The Hawaiian Way’

Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club meets April 30 at Trinity Presbyterian Church to hear retired statesman Daniel Akaka speak on “Doing things the Hawaiian Way, with Aloha.”

The free public event begins with registration and refreshments at 5 p.m., program opening at 6, and “An Evening with Senator Daniel K. Akaka” at 6:30.

It’s part of the club’s Na Mea Hawaii initiative, which shares Hawaiian values “for the purpose of knowledge and perpetuating practices and behaviors in modern Hawaii. Ululani Young is leading this effort for the club.

The club also is steward for Ulupo heiau and awards scholarships. For more information, call 230-3654.
