‘Sound Of Music’ Heard At Mililani High
Central Theatre Arts Academy (CTAA) will settle into Austria for the next few weeks as the cast and crew present The Sound of Music at Mililani High School cafeteria.
Considered by many as the world’s most beloved musical, the spring play is directed by Jamie Stroud with choreography by Kristi Kashimoto-Rowbottom and music director Jody Bill.
The Rodgers & Hammer-stein play is based on the adventures of the Trapp Family Singers and the exuberant postulant who leaves the convent to join them during the opening turmoil of World War II.
Stroud said students from several district schools are involved in the production, and CTAA has received a $4,500 matching grant from Hawaii Arts Alliance to offset funding cuts from the state.
Participating are Mililani High, Waialua High & Intermediate, Aiea Intermediate and Mililani Ike, Uka, Mauka and Waialua elementary schools. Trojan actors Kameryn Behrend and Daniel Bayot portray Maria Rainer and Capt. Georg von Trapp.
Other cast members are Kamuela-Dawn Napoleon, Katie Stroud, Kalli Hirasa, Allayna Quiocho, Isis Usborne, Nicolas Howe, Eric Salazar, Genevieve Casteneda, Kayla Moniz, Lani Matsumiya, Sean Kaya, Noah Fujita, Tatem Foster, Gracia Waite, Leila Durazzo, Colton Truitt, Christopher Johnson, Darius Usborne, David Sikkink, Elizabeth Baker and Sandy Shimaura – plus dozens of dancers and nuns.
